About the
Forest Hills Parent Teacher Committee
The Forest Hills Parent Teacher Committee (FHPTC) is a division of the Jackman Region Community Association. The purpose of the FHPTC is to promote the welfare of the children and youth in the home, school and community. We strive to bring closer the relation of the home and the school, so that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth. We hope to develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental and social education.
Our organization encourages all parents to actively participate in their child's education. We invite all parents, teachers, school faculty and community members to monthly meetings held on the first Monday of the month in the school library at 6:30pm. We encourage parents and children to spend quality time together by providing family fun nights with games, relay races, and other activities that encourage physical activity. We sponsor events that show our children that we value learning such as our family reading night in which children brought their favorite books and community members read to them. We hope to continue our “family nights” to promote our objective of family togetherness.
The FHPTC is committed to building healthy families and healthy communities and believes we all have an important role to play in making sure parents, schools, and communities have the support and resources they need. It is important for children to come to school emotionally, and physically healthy. Studies have shown that children’s physical well being has a significant effect on their learning and long term success. We would like to host open gym days possibly once a month during the winter months when it is not in use for school activities in order to promote our objective of physical fitness.
